ESPN Host Criticizes Michigan Football Coach Sherrone Moore

With Sherrone Moore stepping in for Jim Harbaugh and beating Penn State, ESPN seems to have a new target.

Anyone who supports Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines loves how Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore responded to reporters after his impressive win over Penn State last weekend. With tears in his eyes and emotions flowing all around, Moore shouted out the University of Michigan, his players, and of course, his head coach, who was suspended by the Big Ten without due process just hours before his team’s biggest game of the 2023 season. Of course, all of this was much to the dismay of the national media, especially ESPN host Paul Finebaum —  an avid critic of the Wolverines.

ESPN Host Pual Finebaum still unhappy with Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh and more

Paul Finebaum is known quite well in Ann Arbor, but not in a good way. At every turn, he — as well as many others at ESPN — loves to bash Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football, especially since the news of the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal broke.

Finebaum goes after Sherrone Moore following an impressive win over Penn State

While the fans, players, and even some in the media loved the speech that Sherrone Moore gave after Michigan football beat Penn State, Finebaum clearly hated it, and made that clear on ESPN today.

“You can’t (be the victim),” Paul Finebaum said, talking about the Wolverines. “I thought what (Sherrone Moore) said after the game — he missed the moment. He could’ve made this about the players. Instead, he made it about (Jim) Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh was sitting at a Holiday Inn Express a couple of blocks away, eating popcorn and downing soft drinks, watching a football game. Just like the rest of America, other than — we were probably drinking a little more hardcore stuff. That just doesn’t work.

“The victim card is about someone who is accused of something falsely. I know that in this case, maybe Michigan doesn’t believe it did anything wrong, and just because the rest of the Big Ten thinks it did doesn’t make it right, but let’s not forget what this is all about,” he added.

Regardless of who coaches Michigan football this weekend, Finebaum won’t be too happy

This weekend will pit No. 3 Michigan football against Maryland, which could improve Michigan’s season record to 11-0 and be the program’s 1,000th all-time win — a feat that no team in college football has accomplished yet. On Friday, a court will rule on Michigan’s TRO request, which would allow Jim Harbaugh to coach against the Terps this weekend and against Ohio State next weekend.

Seeing as either Sherrone Moore or Harbaugh will be coaching Michigan football this weekend, we assume that Paul Finebaum doesn’t care how the judge rules — he will likely be rooting against the Wolverines either way.
