The Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal took another unforeseen turn this morning, with now-former staff member Chris Partridge, who was the linebackers coach, being let go by the school. With Jim Harbaugh still suspended from his team’s sideline, ex-Michigan football coach and current Charlotte head coach Biff Poggi — the Wolverines’ associate head coach from 2021-2022 — invited Harbaugh to be on the sidelines with him for Charlotte’s final two games of the 2023 season.
Ex-Michigan football coach extends unique invitation to Jim Harbaugh amid scandal
The Michigan football team, which is currently 10-0 and ranked No. 3 nationally, has two key games coming up: at Maryland (tomorrow) and vs. No. 2 Ohio State (next weekend). That said, Jim Harbaugh, the team’s long-time head coach, will not be allowed on the sidelines for either game due to the Big Ten’s in-season suspension.
Because of this, ex-Michigan football coach Biff Poggi, who was Harbaugh’s “right-hand man” during the Wolverines’ impressive turnaround period in 2021 and 2022, decided to extend a unique invitation. Per his social media, he wants to see Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines with him once again, this time to coach his Charlotte team during his final two games of the 2023 season.
“I am extending an open invitation to Jim Harbaugh to join me on the sidelines for the next two Charlotte football games,” Biff Poggi said on Friday. “It would be my honor to stand next to (Jim Harbaugh) again as we did for three years (at Michigan).”
Harbaugh still has bigger fish to fry at Michigan
Of course, Harbaugh will likely decline the offer seeing as he is heading to College Park, MD, with the rest of the Wolverines. While Sherrone Moore will he head coach for the 60-minute game on Saturday afternoon, Jim Harbaugh will be with his Michigan football team the rest of the way throughout the season. If Michigan beats Ohio State, Harbaugh will return to the sideline against Ohio State in Week 14 with a shot at earning a CFP berth on the line.
