Right now, there are only two current Wolverines in the NCAA football transfer portal: running backs CJ Stokes and Leon Franklin. With Bowl Season wrapping up, including Michigan’s bout against Alabama in the Rose Bowl on January 1, a former Michigan football player has entered the transfer portal. Andre Seldon, an ex-four-star for the Maize and Blue, has re-opened his transfer recruitment after two seasons with the New Mexico State Aggies.

Out of high school, four-star defensive back Andre Seldon Jr. was a major prospect for Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan Wolverines — Seldon ranked as the No. 23 defensive back in the class of 2020 and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Michigan.

While Seldon’s time with Michigan football was not especially impressive on the gridiron, he managed to letter with the Wolverines in both of his two seasons in Ann Arbor, even earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2021. The former Michigan football player appeared in two games as a Wolverine — one in 2020 (Rutgers) and one in 2021 (Northern Illinois).

Now, after spending another two seasons with New Mexico State, Andre Seldon is once again searching for a new home via the transfer portal, and it appears that there are already some major programs interested in his recruitment. After recording over 90 tackles, two interceptions, 15 pass breakups, and more over the past few seasons — not to mention being named team captain — the ex-Michigan defender will be visiting with Wisconsin shortly.

This is speculation on my part, of course, but Michigan football is also in need of cornerbacks in the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season —  Domani Jackson is obviously a top target right now, though bringing Andre Seldon home to Ann Arbor may be an interesting topic of discussion if the Wolverines choose to go that route following the College Football Playoff.
