Brian Robinson, a highly sought-after four-star EDGE target, has been a top priority for Michigan football in the 2024 recruiting class. However, despite his official visit to Michigan in early June, the Wolverines have not yet secured a commitment from him. Robinson is also scheduled to visit Kentucky and Penn State, two other notable contenders in his recruitment, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his decision.
Four-star Michigan football target comes to Ann Arbor, no decision yet
Michigan had appeared to be in a favorable position to land Robinson, as they were the first team on his official visit schedule and had a 70.2% chance, according to the ON3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Additionally, two insider predictions further boosted their prospects. However, following his visit, the situation seems less certain.
Kentucky and Penn State have emerged as strong contenders for Robinson’s commitment, with Kentucky receiving a prediction for him back in April. Although the Wolverines were optimistic before his visit, they now find themselves without his commitment as he proceeds to his next two visits.
Wolverines still in the running, but no longer considered a sure-thing
Recent reports suggest that Michigan may still be in the running for Robinson, but they are not in as strong a position as initially believed. The Wolverines might need to reconsider their plans and potentially target fewer defensive ends in this class if they fail to secure Robinson’s commitment. While missing out on Robinson would not be a devastating blow, it would not be an encouraging start to June for Michigan.
Maize and Blue in fine shape with or without Robinson, but the former is prefered
Michigan currently holds the No. 2 recruiting class overall in the 247 Sports composite team rankings. To solidify their status among the nation’s best, it is crucial for them to secure commitments from key prospects like Brian Robinson in the 2024 recruiting class. The Wolverines are particularly focused on recruiting defensive linemen, especially edge rushers, in this class, and failing to land a player of Robinson’s caliber would reflect poorly on their efforts.
It is worth noting that Brian Robinson may still ultimately choose Michigan football. However, the once-confident prediction for the Wolverines has now become a significant question mark following the initial round of official visits in June.
