Offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi is gearing up for his fifth year at Michigan, and fans can expect big things come this fall. Not only will El-Hadi be bringing his leadership skills back to Ann Arbor as a fifth-year veteran for the maize and blue, this season is expected to be like a pseudo-homecoming for him.
El-Hadi proved just how much of an asset he is in the 2024 season, after playing right guard for all 13 games. During his first few seasons at Michigan, El-Hadi played on the left side of the offensive line. While the transition may not have been seamless, the O-Lineman is tough and showed his versatility and dedication by earning his fourth varsity letter at Michigan.
Giovanni El-Hadi returning to ‘more natural’ side of offensive line
El-Hadi confirmed he’ll be returning to left guard this season.
“I feel a little bit more natural on the left. I played my first two years on the left side,” El-Hadi said. “… To be good at something, I have to be consistent…I was pretty consistent on the left side.”
El-Hadi’s return to the left side should certainly bring a sense of confidence and excitement to the O-Line as a whole.
If El-Hadi felt uncomfortable playing on the right side last year, it’s a sure bet that he’ll be an absolute powerhouse this fall when he plays where he is comfortable, especially if he has hopes of playing at the next level in 2026. Michigan fans will get a sneak preview in the spring game on April 19, but it’s clear that El-Hadi has some big goals this season, and he intends on reaching them.
