With Michigan football once again in the negative spotlight, Jim Harbaugh attorney Tom Mars is back at work in defending the Maize and Blue from a fast-approaching NCAA investigation. The Wolverines are accused of sign stealing, a commonly found yet serious offense in college football, though Mars says that Harbaugh would likely deny having any knowledge of sign stealing.
Jim Harbaugh attorney chimes in on new NCAA investigation
Right now, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football are not permitted to release official statements on the NCAA investigation into sign stealing. That said, Harbaugh’s attorney and local legal legend Tom Mars, who has handled a number of cases for the University of Michigan and Jim Harbaugh, had some words earlier today.
“I’ve spoken to Coach (Jim) Harbaugh about what we’ve read in the sports news, and if NCAA rules allowed him to make a public statement, I am sure he would deny having any knowledge of what was reported,” Tom Mars said in a statement, per Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports.
Warde Manuel also released a statement earlier today in which he claimed that the University of Michigan football program and school as a whole would be 100% cooperative with the NCAA investigation into Jim Harbaugh and the allegations against the Wolverines. For the time being, though, all Michigan can do is focus on its next step toward a national title: beating Michigan State on Saturday.
