ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Wolverines’ 24-15 win at No. 10 Penn State last weekend was a huge one for the Michigan football program as a whole — not only did it improve Michigan’s season record to 10-0 (7-0 Big Ten) heading into this weekend’s game at Maryland, but it was the team’s 999th all-time win, the most in college football history. This Saturday against the Terrapins, Jim Harbaugh and his team will be pushing for win number 1,000 — Harbaugh detailed some thoughts on this potential feat yesterday afternoon.

Jim Harbaugh may or may not be coaching Michigan football this weekend due to the Big Ten’s regular season sidelined suspension; however, that remains to be seen, with a hearing coming up on Friday. Regardless, the Wolverines will have their shot at getting to 11-0 on the season and winning their 1,000th all-time game against Maryland on Saturday, which is a monumental feat for the Maize and Blue, to say the least.

“And the (Michigan football) program is sitting at 999 wins. Chance for 1,000 this Saturday,” Jim Harbaugh said on Monday. “It’s in our wildest dreams, that’s what we hope for, that’s what we worked for was that we’d have a chance to play — in our 11th game this season — a chance to get that 1,000.”

Jim Harbaugh also gave shoutouts to those who helped Michigan football get to 999 — present players, past players, and more.

“… And I want to thank especially everyone who was put on the winged helmet. All those that have contributed and those that have supported their efforts. And there and the current supporters, as I mentioned before, it’s monumental and motivates us to find extra work to do, keep a one-track mind and get keener, finer, and more alert, get the job done. Very proud of our football team.”
