Last weekend, Michigan football transfer portal tight end AJ Barner played a notable role in the Wolverines’ massive 52-10 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers. While Barner’s impact has not been the most outstanding on the stat sheet just yet, Jim Harbaugh has been quite impressed with the former Indiana captain heading into Week 7’s matchup against — you guessed it — the Indiana Hoosiers.
Jim Harbaugh impressed with “elite” Michigan football transfer
Michigan football transfer portal addition AJ Barner has been labeled as an “elite” addition to the Wolverines’ impressive offense. While Barner’s presence often goes unnoticed, Jim Harbaugh has surely taken note of his ex-Indiana standout, who has been playing solid ball alongside sophomore tight end Colston Loveland and others.
“Yeah, really terrific,” Jim Harbaugh said of his tight end room and their blocking ability on Monday. “As a group, it’s been great. AJ Barner is really doing it at an elite level right now. He’s been a great addition to the team.”
A few other tight ends stand out to the 9th-year Michigan football head coach as well.
“Max Bredeson, I thought he only had one missed block in the game,” Harbaugh said. “Colston Loveland, the whole group is really excelling at a high level, especially in blocking and receiving.”
AJ Barner set to take on his former team — the Indiana Hoosiers
This weekend, Michigan football will face AJ Barner’s former team — the Indiana Hoosiers — for a Week 7 bout at the Big House. Saturday will be the Wolverines’ third-to-last game at home this fall, with Purdue and Ohio State being the only remaining home games after IU.
