Last weekend, Jim Harbaugh was not on the sidelines for the Wolverines’ home opener against East Carolina at Michigan Stadium. Still, Michigan football (led by quarterback JJ McCarthy) had quite a few gestures for their head coach, who will also miss Week 2 and Week 3 due to suspension. Today, Jim Harbaugh addressed the media and explained his feelings on what the Wolverines did for him before and after the ECU game.

Jim Harbaugh felt the love from Michigan football

If you missed it, Michigan football had quite a few gestures for its head coach before and after the East Carolina win last weekend. From JJ McCarthy wearing a ‘Free Harbaugh’ shirt to the players running Harbaugh’s famous “long I-formation,” Michigan was showing the love to its suspended head coach before opening the season with a 30-3 victory.

“Yeah, I felt the love from them just doing them,” Jim Harbaugh explained this morning. “You know, I could see it in our players, I could see it in our coaches. And, That’s what I wanted to do — I want them to do them. ‘Do you’ Is what we say around here. I saw them having fun, I saw them executing, and saw them playing well. And yeah, (I) felt the love from them and the Michigan faithful.”

Week 4 will mark Harbaugh’s return to game action

While Jim Harbaugh won’t be making a return until later this month for the Wolverines’ Big Ten opener against Rutgers (Week 4), his team is still in good hands. Michigan football will be led by Jay Harbaugh and Mike Hart this weekend, and Sherrone Moore next weekend — it’s worth noting that defensive play-caller Jesse Minter was running the show against East Carolina over the weekend.

Even though Jim Harbaugh can’t be on the sidelines for games, he is still hard at work in practice the other six days of the week and is eager to get back in the stadium as the head coach of Michigan football.
