Outside linebacker Josaiah Stewart became the fifth Wolverine drafted into the NFL last night, going in the 3rd round as the 90th overall pick to the LA Rams. By the time he was a senior at Michigan, Stewart was a team captain, a two-time letter winner, and a second team All-Big Ten selection.
When Stewart arrived at Michigan as a junior, it was clear he was ready to explode. During the 2023 national champion season, Stewart appeared in all 15 games as an edge rusher, where he was a massive impact player, proving he was ready to start at the position the following year and lead his team as a senior captain.
Stewart Has Only Continued to Improve Through His College Career
Stewart grew up in The Bronx, and didn’t start playing football until high school, where he played with future Michigan teammate, Mike Sainristil. He began his college career at Coastal Carolina, where he was a two-time letter winner and started in 17 of the 24 games he played. Stewart made the decision to transfer to Michigan for his junior year, where he was reunited with Sainristil, and was able to show off his immense skill set on a much larger stage.
In his two years at Michigan, Josaiah Stewart surely made a name for himself, helping his team to an undefeated national championship season his junior year, and leading his team in tackles for loss at 13 on the season, resulting in yet another win over Ohio State, and a win over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
The LA Rams picked up a fantastic player in Josaiah Stewart, one who will surely bring their program to new heights, especially in a position where the Rams are looking to develop this season.
