Kyle McCord is “nowhere near” Michigan Football Quarterback

Per this ex-NFL All-Pro and current CBS Sports analyst, Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy gives the Wolverines a clear edge against Kyle McCord and Ohio State.

Last year, we got an 11-0 vs. 11-0 battle in ‘The Game,’ which pit the No. 3 Wolverines against the No. 2 Buckeyes in Columbus — a game Jim Harbaugh & Co. won, 45-23. In just nine days, these two Big Ten blue bloods will go at it once again, likely facing off with perfect records and ranked in the top 3 for the second season in a row. According to one CBS Sports analyst — ex-NFL star and current football expert.insider Kevin Carter — Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy is far better than Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord, giving the No. 3 Wolverines a clear-cut advantage right now.

Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy has his Wolverines playing elite football

This weekend, Michigan football could improve to 11-0 on the season and earn its 1,000th all-time win by downing Maryland (6-4, 3-4 Big Ten) on the road in College Park, MD. Next weekend is the big one, though: Ohio State comes to town.

So far, like the Wolverines, the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes have a perfect record and are ranked in the top three nationally as the College Football Playoff race continues. Over the past two seasons, Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football have claimed two massive wins over Ohio State — a 42-27 win in 2021 and a 45-23 at The Shoe last fall.

CBS Sports analyst says McCarthy is far better than Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord

This year, CBS Sports analyst Kevin Carter believes that Michigan is poised for a third-straight win over Ohio State, largely because of JJ McCarthy.

“This team is elite — they are built right,” Carter said of Michigan football following its impressive road win over No. 10 Penn State last weekend. “I give them the advantage in this matchup because Ohio State? They haven’t proven that they are elite at the quarterback position. Kyle McCord is nowhere near (or) in the same conversation as JJ McCarthy.

“The guys in the Maize and Blue have the advantage in this one, and I think they are going to win this game,” Carter added.

Michigan football continues to roll

Despite only throwing eight passes against Penn State last weekend, Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy is still among the top players being discussed for the 2023 Heisman Trophy. While McCarthy has missed chunks of games this fall, largely due to the fact that the Wolverines have been pulling their starters midway through the third quarter in nearly every game so far, JJ McCarthy still has recorded some impressive numbers.

Through ten games of the 2023 season, the Michigan football star QB has thrown for nearly 2,200 yards with 18 passing touchdowns and three interceptions — all of which came against Bowling Green in Week 3. McCarthy’s two most telling stats of the season? His QBR of 92.7 (2nd nationally) and his team’s perfect 10-0 record heading into this weekend’s game at Maryland.
