Recently, several prominent Michigan Wolverines football stars had the opportunity to discuss their ambitions for the 2023-24 national title and more on episode one of ‘Michigan Made,’ presented by Michigan Athletics.

Michigan Wolverines football stars gunning for national title, excited for the 2023 season

As all Michigan football fans know, the Wolverines are heading into a season full of massive expectations, which is set to kick off in less than 60 days. Heading into the 2023 season, the Maize and Blue have national title-caliber expectations, and anything less will be seen as a failure, according to Blake Corum. Recently, a few Michigan Wolverines football stars broke down their lofty goals and more ahead of this year’s fall opener against ECU.

“How I’m moving forward this year is just staying process-oriented, always thinking about the next best action I can take in order to improve myself, better myself,” said rising junior quarterback JJ McCarthy, who took over as Michigan’s starter last fall. “… I want to be one of the best teams to ever play this game. We have the potential to do it. We have the talent to do it, we have the dedication, commitment and hard work to do it. It’s all about just putting it together and executing the plan.”

“Iron sharpens iron,” goes the old saying, and for Michigan football, this message rings true as the Maize and Blue pursue a national title this fall.

“Everybody has a competitive mindset,” junior running back Donovan Edwards said. “Everybody wants to get better. At the same time, we’re taking care of each other, and we’re also building that brotherhood with each other.”

Of this year’s Michigan Wolverines football stars, senior running back Blake Corum has been the most vocal about winning a national title. As he returns from injury, the Wolverines are looking stronger than ever on the offensive side of the football and view anything less than a national title as a failure.

“Obviously, the No. 1 goal is to win the national championship,” Blake Corum said. “We have to go get it. Goal two is just to repeat, so beat Ohio State, beat Michigan State, win the Big Ten championship. Repeat.”

This is the most loaded and motivated Michigan football roster under Jim Harbaugh, and as the 2023 season approaches, national title expectations are brewing for the Maize and Blue.
