Looks like Michigan football is on commitment watch again

With crystal balls coming in for Kainoa Winston, plus a new post from the Michigan football head coach, we are on commitment watch.

I’m not going to lie, I love that Sherrone Moore, the Michigan football head coach is active on social media. Jim Harbaugh used to be and then stopped.

Harbaugh’s tweets were glorious. Moore’s are interesting though because lately, he’s been teasing good news on the recruiting trail or from the transfer portal and it appears as though Moore is back on Friday, posting an eyeball emoji on X with #GoBlue.

Lamar Morgan, the secondary coach, also posted a GIF of a guy cooking. The insinuation is that Michigan football is ‘cooking’ on the recruiting trail. That’s my interpretation and it feels safe to say all of this optimism is connected to top-100 safety Kainoa Winston.

Top-100 safety is trending to Michigan football

Winston is 5-foot-10, 185 pounds, and ranked 88th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also ranked in the top 100 according to the On3 Industry Rankings. The On3 prediction machine also gives Michigan football an 89 percent chance to land his commitment. That’s especially high after Steve Wiltfong projected Winston to the Wolverines on Thursday.

Sam Webb and Brian Dohn of 247 Sports followed suit with crystal balls on Thursday — the first for Winston — so everything is pointing to a commitment. There are visits for North Carolina and Oregon scheduled, at least according to his recruiting profile, but that’s something to watch this weekend.

Maybe, Michgan football will get a verbal commitment instead. Of course, these posts by Morgan and Moore could be referring to something else. But we guessed right on Sunday when Moore posted something similar. It felt like it was about Jaylen Williams, and it was after he committed a day later.

We’ll see if a Winston commitment is that close, but whenever it comes, if it does, it would be another huge win for the Wolverines on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class, which is shaping up better than some people realize.
