Jim Harbaugh’s squad is looking scary good on the 2024 recruiting trail, and the nation has unquestionably taken notice. Right now, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class ranks top-2 in the country, only behind the reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Recently, it was reported that the Miami Hurricanes are heavily targeting a current four-star Michigan commit: Hogan Hansen.

The Miami Hurricanes — a perennial middle-of-the-pack ACC team — recently fired former offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, who has since moved back into the Big Ten via the Maryland Terrapins. Now, it appears that with Gattis gone, Miami has become a more attractive landing spot for some top offensive talent, including 2024 four-star Michigan commit Hogan Hansen.

According to 247 Sports, Hanses is the No. 117 player in the 2024 class, the No. 9 tight end, and the No. 4 player in Washington. He has been committed to Michigan football for quite some time now, though his recent visit to Miami appears to have gotten his attention.

“I think they’re all great; I can see myself being coached by them,” Hansen said about Miami according to On3. “They’re all laid back, but at the same time know how to get on you and make sure you’re doing your job.”

With Miami making a late push for one of the Wolverines’ top recruits, Jim Harbaugh and his staff need to make sure their bases are covered — verbal commitments are nice, though they mean nothing for the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class until pen hits paper on National Signing Day.
