Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football team are 14-0 right now and will play for a national title tomorrow evening in Houston, TX. While all Wolverine fans are locked in on that game right now, people are growing less patient with Juwan Howard and Michigan basketball, who just lost yet another game — this time against Penn State — and appear to be trending in the wrong direction.
Michigan basketball fans are furious with Juwan Howard after most recent loss
When Juwan Howard took over the Michigan basketball program in 2019-20, John Beilein had built the Maize and Blue into one of the most successful programs in the nation. Just two seasons into Howard’s tenure, Michigan was crowned Big Ten Champions after an impressive pandemic-ridden season — the Wolverines went on to make the Elite Eight.
Ever since that impressive 2020-21 season, Michigan basketball has been trending downwards — from Sweet 16 to the NIT to… whatever the program is doing right now.
Loss to Penn State is Michigan’s ninth in past 12 games
After tonight’s loss, Michigan basketball is down to 6-9 overall and 3-9 in its past 12 matchups, including four-straight losses. Michigan’s loss to Penn State was *yet another* narrow defeat, and gives the Maize and Blue a 1-3 Big Ten record heading into next week’s bout at Maryland.
With the Jon Sanderson investigation, team culture issues being rumored, and an overall bad product being put on the court, Michigan basketball fans are furious right now. In fact, most want the Juwan Howard era in Ann Arbor to be over — perhaps rightfully so. Below are some fans’ post-game reactions from Sunday’s loss against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
