Michigan basketball a finalist for major five-star center, No. 1 recruit in Virginia
Patrick Ngongba is a major Michigan basketball recruiting target and is ranked among the top 30 prospects nationally in the ON3 industry recruiting rankings. Earlier today, he announced the top eight teams remaining in his recruitment, with the Wolverines being named alongside some elite competition.
According to Patrick Ngongba’s announcement, Michigan basketball is competing with some of the nation’s elite programs, such as Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, Providence, Duke, UConn, and Kansas State. The race is close between a few of these top teams right now, although the Recruiting Prediction Machine indicates that the Duke Blue Devils are currently in the lead.
Depending on the service you are using, Patrick Ngongba is considered a four or five-star center in the 2024 recruiting class. According to industry rankings, he is the No. 26 player in the nation, the No. 2 center in his cycle, and the No. 1 recruit in Virginia.
The 2024 Michigan basketball recruiting class currently ranks No. 22 nationally and has secured two commitments thus far. With crucial seasons on the horizon for Juwan Howard’s Wolverines, Michigan needs to recruit new talent to regain contention for Big Ten titles and NCAA tournaments. Although Patrick Ngongba is still some time away from making an official commitment, his consideration of the Wolverines makes this recruitment one that Michigan basketball fans should keep an eye on.
