Michigan football is set to have one of the top 2025 recruiting classes in the country. With the commitment of No. 1 recruit QB Bryce Underwood, the Wolverines made themselves more desirable for transfers. Although Underwood should see the field as a freshman, there is still a lack of high-level depth at the position.
Veteran QBs Michigan Could Land in the Portal
Michigan could have its eyes on two quarterbacks, and both have some form of success under their belt. First, there’s Miller Moss at USC. The redshirt junior threw for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. Through the first four games, Moss had 1,198 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. Turnovers became an issue late in the season, and Moss was subsequently benched. Michigan is set to be in the running for Moss alongside Auburn and Iowa.
Additionally, the Wolverines might look at Liberty QB Kaidon Salter. Salter was the CUSA Most Valuable Player in 2023, but his numbers regressed this season in every category. Salter is a dual-threat and has a 1,000 yard rushing campaign on his resume.
“When Kaidon Salter entered the transfer portal a year ago, all eyes were on a reunion with Hugh Freeze at Auburn,” On3’s Pete Nakos wrote this week. “That will be in the cards again, sources tell On3, but that won’t be the only school Salter looks at. Expect Syracuse and Indiana to receive some interest from Salter. He’s thrown for 5,887 career yards at Liberty. While playing at Michigan could be appealing, playing time would not be guaranteed with No. 1 recruit Bryce Underwood set to contribute immediately as a freshman.”
Regardless of which QB Michigan brings in, Underwood is the future.
