On Saturday, Michigan football announced that it has a new addition to the Jim Harbaugh-led coaching staff. The Wolverines have hired Josh Sinagoga as an offensive analyst. The move could be beneficial for Michigan’s offense and its recruiting efforts going forward.
Who is Josh Sinagoga?
Josh Sinagoga has spent the past four years with Youngstown State (FCS program), working with quarterbacks and in recruiting. Sinagoga also brings in some experience from the University of Iowa, where he started his career as a graduate assistant.
Why is this hire essential for Michigan football?
Sinagoga is filling an analyst vacancy that was left in Michigan’s staff when Kirk Campbell was promoted to quarterbacks coach last month. Campbell replaced Matt Weiss — the Wolverines’ former co-offensive coordinator and QB coach — who was fired amidst a police investigation in early January.
Additionally, the former assistant recruiting coordinator, Jonathan Herd-Bond, has left the program, which means that recruiting could be another primary role for the new Wolverines analyst.
Michigan football has seen quite a bit of turnover in recent months regarding the coaching staff. Still, despite replacing their offensive and defensive coordinators, the Wolverines managed to make the College Football Playoff and win a second-straight Big Ten title a season ago.
It’s time to sit back and trust that Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh knows what he is doing and is bringing quality candidates onto his coaching staff as the Wolverines pursue a third-straight Big Ten Championship this fall.
