Michigan football is one of the best programs in college football at developing offensive line talent. You could say the Wolverines are the best since they have more players in the NFL than any other school.

Hopefully, that’s something that the Wolverines can use to their advantage on the recruiting trail. A few recruits have come away from visits calling Michigan football “O-line U” and that’s a sentiment that can’t hurt trying to land some of the elite O-line prospects out there.

One of those is 2025 four-star recruit Michael Carroll. The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder out of Doylestown, Pennslyvania, released a top-four list on Saturday and Michigan football made the cut along with Penn State, Georgia, and Alabama.

Michigan football in the race to land 4-star OL

Michigan recently visited Carroll (No. 216 overall) and the Wolverines seem to have some momentum. The blue-chipper also visited Ann Arbor during the spring game. Alabama is a team that’s been gaining momentum too. The Crimson Tide hosted Carroll for two visits already this spring and the Crimson Tide have an official visit set for June 7th.

That tells you that the Crimson Tide really values Carroll. Georgia hosted Carroll in March and will get the first visit on May 31st. Penn State is third and Michigan football will be last on June 21st.

The Nittany Lions have a slight edge right now according to the On3 prediction machine. Yet, it’s close between all four contenders. Penn State has a 29 percent chance to land his commitment, followed by U-M at 20 and Alabama at 12. Georgia is fourth with eight percent but there haven’t been any crystal balls or expert projections.

Thus, it feels wide open and this is the kind of recruitment Michigan should win as an “O-line U.”
