On Monday, Michigan football officially announced running back Blake Corum as a team captain for the 2023 season — a well-earned title, to say the least. Shortly after, Corum addressed the media — there, the Wolverine star identified a future star player for the Maize and Blue: freshman running back Benjamin Hall.
Michigan football has something special with freshman running back
Since getting to campus for spring ball, freshman running back Benjamin Hall has been turning heads in Ann Arbor. From running backs coach Mike Hart to Michigan football captain and superstar tailback Blake Corum, Hall is currently the talk of the town right now and could be Michigan’s next elite back.
“Ben Hall, I like him a lot,” Blake Corum said on Friday. “His attention to detail, his willingness to learn, wants to learn, always on time. …He’s watching the film, ‘How can I get better? What can I do?’ He’s going to be a great running back for Michigan. I’m excited to see where he goes down the line.”
Blake Corum a big fan of the RB room in Ann Arbor heading into the 2023 season
Over the past few seasons, Michigan football has been producing some elite running backs — right now, Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum headline the Wolverines’ RB room, which could be the best in the nation. Down the road, Mike Hart and his backs need to keep this production up as Michigan chases more Big Ten Championship Games, College Football Playoff berths, and more.
“So overall, all the running backs are doing great, no one stood out,” Corum said. “It was more so — I mean, no one stood out, but everyone stood out, if you know what I’m saying. I like the running back room we have. Coach (Mike) Hart does a wonderful job of coaching us and keeping us all together. I’m blessed to be a part of the running back room.”
When the 2023 season turns to 2024 and on, keep true freshman running back Benjamin Hall in mind — he could be the next elite running back in Ann Arbor. Heading into the Wolverines’ season opener against East Carolina in eight days, Michigan RB Ben Hall is listed as a massive 5-11, 235-pound freshman (per the team site), making him a giant and unique threat for the offense this year.
