Yesterday evening, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class got a bit better by adding the 7th-ranked recruit out of Indiana. After missing on a series of Ohio State targets at cornerback, such as Bryce West and Aaron Scott, the Wolverines have added three-star IN cornerback Jo’Ziah Edmond, who had previously been committed to the Purdue Boilermakers.

Michigan football recruiting flips Purdue cornerback commit

Jim Harbaugh has been doing quite well for himself on the recruiting trail as of late; however, over the past few months, the Wolverines have seen their fair share of notable misses. Most recently in the 2024 recruiting class, Michigan football swung but came up short with four-star Aaron Scott, the No. 1 recruit in the state of Ohio, who ultimately opted for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In Scott’s place is Jo’Ziah Edmond, a former Purdue commit, who announced his flipped commitment late yesterday evening via Twitter.

According to the 247 Sports recruiting rankings, Jo’Ziah Edmond is a three-star cornerback in the 2024 recruiting class. He also ranks as the No. 48 cornerback in the nation and is the No. 7 player in the state of Indiana. While most Michigan football recruiting fans were hoping (and praying) for Bryce West and Aaron Scott, the Wolverines are known for developing these under-the-radar prospects and turning them into stars. Ronnie Bell, Hassan Haskins, Rod Moore, and many more are great recent examples of this.

Jo’Ziah Edmond is a 6-foot-1, 180+ pound cornerback out of Northwood High School in Indiana. According to his Michigan football commitment announcement, he’s “coming for everything” as a Wolverine. It looks like Jim Harbaugh added another hungry prospect, which is a good early sign for the Maize and Blue in the 2024 recruiting class.
