The busy week on the recruiting trail continues on Saturday for Michigan football as six visitors from the 2025 recruiting class will be on campus Saturday. That includes top-100 offensive lineman Douglas Utu, out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.

Elite O-lineman will visit Michigan football

At 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, Utu is ranked as the No. 57 overall prospect in the 2025 class. He’s the second top-100 lineman on campus in the past week after five-star Andrew Babalola visited last weekend. That visit went “great” according to reports.

There’s even some thought that Michigan football leads for the elite offensive tackle from the state of Kansas — where Sherrone Moore is from. Yet, Moore has a ton of other talented O-line prospects coming to campus.

Marcus Garcia (visited last weekend), a three-star tackle in the 2025 class, included the Wolverines in his top 8. Utu is on campus Saturday, along with 6-foot-8 offensive tackle Jack Lange. The Eureka, Missouri prospect is considered a Notre Dame lean but has an official visit scheduled already to Michigan football this summer.

Garcia, Babalola, and top in-state offensive line target Avery Gach visited the Wolverines last weekend, along with top-100 safety Jadon Blair. Michigan football seemed to make positive impressions on all of them, but things are still in the early stages with most recruits.

The Wolverines feel like the sure leader for Gach. He’s the second-ranked player in the state of Michigan for the 2025 class. The 6-foot-5 offensive tackle is ranked 226th overall and has a crystal ball for U-M.

Running back recruiting picks up

Michigan football also hosted a trio of uber-talented running back recruits in the 2025 class this week. Running back recruiting has picked up considerably since the hire of Tony Alford.

Two backs from Ohio — Marquise Davis and Bo Jackson — visited the Wolverines this past week and each named Michigan football as a contender moving forward.

The Wolverines also host four-star Jordan Davison. Each back is ranked in the top 200 according to the 247 Sports composite rankings or the On3 Industry rankings. Davison has a crystal ball to Texas, while Jackson has one to Ohio State but it’s early for the Wolverines because Alford was just hired.

Michigan football landed Jordan Marshall, the top running back in Ohio in the 2024 class, and with Alford leading the charge, it feels like history might repeat itself.
