If all goes according to plan, Ohio State should beat Michigan football and in Buckeye land, everything will be right with the world.
But can you imagine if that doesn’t happen?
It’s almost too funny to think about. You could almost feel the irony on Monday as Urban Meyer and Jim Tressel, two Ohio State coaches who beat Michigan football a lot, talked about how the 2024 Ohio State team is one of the most talented rosters ever this week.
“This is one of the most talented rosters in the last decade, maybe ever,” Meyer said to Adam King. Jim Tressel also said, “There is greatness everywhere you look.”
All of the pressure is on Ohio State
Hopefully, that includes the head coach who promised to “hang 100” on Michigan football years ago but his team only managed to score 74 points in the last three games — all losses — to Michigan football.
Day always tries to explain away his failures by saying things like it was “one bad half” or that his team was “one play away” from reaching all of its goals the past three years when that’s clearly not true.
The Buckeyes were one play away from making the national title game in 2022, but unless beating Michigan football isn’t a goal anymore, that statement wasn’t accurate. But the pressure is getting to Day.
It’s why he keeps saying stupid things on TV. The Lou Holtz rant was one of the funniest things I have ever seen (outside of the pre-game dancing in 2023). It was made even funnier when his Ohio State team showed their lack of toughness once again in ‘The Game’ not leading for a single second in Ann Arbor in a 30-24 loss without Jim Harbaugh by the way.
That’s why Third Base loaded up the Brinks truck and got as much talent as possible. Day built maybe the best roster of all time according to Meyer (quite the statement), so the Buckeyes shouldn’t lose a game. They certainly shouldn’t lose to Michigan football as a double-digit favorite.
Just imagine how funny it would be if they did.
