Michigan football has long been considered a favorite in the recruitment of four-star defensive lineman Jaylen Williams.

But after he canceled a visit to Miami for this weekend in order to schedule an official visit to Michigan football, which is what happened according to Allen Trieu of 247 Sports, it only reinforced the fact that the Wolverines are the team to beat for the 6-foot-6, 265-pound standout.

Out of Palatine, Illinois, Williams has been a top target for Michigan football. The Wolverines were trending with crystal ball projections in November after he visited for the Ohio State game, but it didn’t lead to a commitment.

Nebraska has been building momentum with Williams and the loss of D-line coach Mike Elston seemed to open the door for some other schools.

However, Michigan getting him on campus for an official visit this weekend is huge. It’s one thing to get him on campus but to have him cancel on Miami, a team with tons of NIL firepower, is also a good sign.

Shortly after Trieu reported the visit, he joined some of the recruiting reports in November in logging a crystal ball prediction for Wiliams to commit to Michigan football. It’s the second defensive line projection from Tuesday for the Wolverines who are also trending for four-star D-line prospect Maxwell Roy.

Ranked 236th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Williams will visit Tennessee on June 14th and Nebraska on June 21st according to his 247 Sports profile, but both of those programs have work to do as Michigan is the clear favorite at this point.
