Michigan football recruiting is aiming to secure the commitment of Taylor Tatum, the nation’s top-ranked running back, next month. Yesterday, the Wolverines received new insider predictions regarding Tatum’s commitment, which could have a significant impact on Michigan’s prospects throughout the summer. In the upcoming month (official visit season), the Wolverines will host Tatum on campus and will undoubtedly make efforts to secure his commitment during his official visit.

Michigan football looking to lock down Taylor Tatum next month

Initially, the USC Trojans seemed to have the edge in the race to secure the commitment of Taylor Tatum, the nation’s top-ranked running back and a key target for Michigan football. However, recent developments have shifted the momentum in favor of the Wolverines, making Michigan the frontrunner for this highly sought-after running back from Texas.

With Michigan’s class already ranked second nationally, adding a player of Tatum’s caliber could potentially propel them to the number one spot, surpassing the Georgia Bulldogs.

On the weekend of June 23, Michigan football will host Taylor Tatum for an official visit on campus. Prior to that, USC (June 2) and Oklahoma State (June 16) will also have official visits with Tatum. Nevertheless, Michigan currently holds the strongest momentum, and it is reported that no decisions will be made until after Tatum’s visit to Ann Arbor — his official visit next month will be the Wolverines’ perfect opportunity to shut down his recruitment.

For Michigan football, securing the impressive commitment of Tatum next month and adding another elite recruit will be crucial for their 2024 class. While they already have Jordan Marshall, a top-ranked running back, the success of players like Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards has shown the importance of having a lethal one-two punch in the backfield.

Tatum is one of the hottest recruits in the nation

According to the most recent update by 247 Sports composite rankings, Taylor Tatum has made a remarkable surge to become the nation’s top-ranked running back. Michigan football has been diligently pursuing Tatum for an extended period, and there are optimistic indications that they could secure his commitment during the summer.

Should they succeed, it would be a substantial boost to Jim Harbaugh’s already impressive 2024 recruiting class for the Wolverines, assuming some favorable circumstances come into play.
