Michigan football recruiting has been locked onto Taylor Tatum, a four-star Texas running back, for quite some time now. For the Michigan Wolverines, landing Tatum in the 2024 recruiting class would be massive for a number of reasons; if nothing else, Michigan’s run of elite RBs must continue if the Wolverines want to sustain their current success. Recently, Tatum earned a significant boost in the 247 Sports composite rankings and is now the No. 1 running back in the nation.

Michigan football recruiting target now the No. 1 running back in the nation

According to a recent rankings boost, Taylor Tatum is now the No. 1 running back in the nation, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Michigan football has been pursuing Tatum for quite some time, and with a bit of luck over the summer, the Texas recruit will don the Maize and Blue, adding to an already impressive 2024 recruiting class for Jim Harbaugh and his staff.

Michigan football may run into some trouble with Tatum, as the Wolverines are currently expected to land a new RB commit next month in the form of three-star Las Vegas native Micah Kaapana. Still, I am sure the staff has that situation under close observation and will make the best call for the program in the long run.

According to the newest 247 Sports rankings, Taylor Tatum is in pursuit of his fifth star, coming in at No. 31 nationally, No. 6 among Texas recruits, and is ranked as the No. 1 running back in the nation.

Michigan already has other Texas recruits committed, such as four-star lineman Blake Frazier, and landing more prospects from the Lone Star State could be massive for the Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class and for the classes that follow.
