Michigan football could really use a commitment. The Wolverines have been making some gains and established themselves as the leaders in a few different recruitments.

But it’s time to get some public commitments and this weekend is the perfect opportunity for the Wolverines to do just that. There’s not a huge contingent of visitors headed to Ann Arbor this weekend. There are four recruits in fact coming for official visits, however, the Wolverines have been trending for one visitor — Jaylen Williams.

Jaylen Williams, a four-star defensive lineman, has been trending with expert projections across the recruiting sites. Michigan football was viewed as the favorite this fall. Williams, a 6-foot-6, 270-pounder out of Illinois, visited for the Ohio State game.

The coaching changes along the D-line especially caused some upheaval in his recruitment, but Williams just canceled his visit to Miami to come to Michigan football. More crystal ball projections have followed this week and it feels like this visit is a chance for U-M to close.

Williams is ranked No. 236 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2025 class. He’s long been a top target and landing his commitment would be huge.  There are other significant visitors this weekend though.

More official visit thoughts for Michigan football

Jordon Davison is one of the best running backs in the 2025 recruiting class and the Mater Dei prospect will visit this weekend. He’s got crystal balls to Ohio State but the Buckeyes just took a running back and are the favorite for another, but they could take three.

Still, this weekend is a chance for Michigan football to make its move with the top-100 running back. The Wolverines cracked his top four. Oregon and Alabama also got official visits so it’s not going to be easy, but Davison is the top target on the running back board for the moment.

The Wolverines are also hosting Mariyon Dye and Julius Holly, a couple of four-star EDGE prospects this weekend. Making headway with those recruits is important too but the objective is getting a verbal from Williams and trying to establish themselves as the favorite for Davison.
