This week has been an exciting one for fans of the Michigan Wolverines. On Monday, Michigan started its spring practice schedule — the first of many stops on the long road to the 2023 college football season. Still, there are some banged up players on the Wolverines’ roster — such as running back Blake Corum — so let’s break down what Harbaugh had to say about his injured players with some Michigan football injury updates.
Michigan football injury updates: Blake Corum OUT for spring ball
Earlier this week it was announced that Michigan star running back Blake Corum will miss the Wolverines’ spring ball regiment as he continues to rehab his knee injury. As most know, Corum took an awkward shot to the knee during Michigan’s 19-17 win over Illinois a season ago, causing him to miss Michigan’s final three games of the season. Here is what Harbaugh had to say about Corum’s status:
“Probably will be full-go sometime around the start of June for the full summer cycle,” Harbaugh said on Thursday. “He’s out there every day. He’s not going through the drills. He had surgery. So, give it the time that’s needed to recover and build the strength back and make sure that he’s in a great place. I mean, every guy that’s not participating in spring ball, they’re actively continuing strength and conditioning. They’re actively fulfilling the protocols that the doctors have for their rehabilitation. And I don’t see anybody loafing or taking it easy. Still got the sweat all over the shirt. So it’s good as they’re doing what the experts are telling them to do right now.”
For those who don’t remember, this is what Corum had to say about his knee injury when he announced that he would return for his senior season back in January:
“I don’t like the way I went out,” Blake Corum said. “I’m coming back for it all.”
Additional updates
Michigan has two transfer linemen coming from Stanford, though both are questionable as of right now. Here is what Jim Harbaugh had to say about center Drake Nugent and tackle Myles Hinton:
Yeah, they’re working through a couple of things,” Harbaugh said. “Postseason surgery — so not not full go.”
While it is not ideal that the Wolverines have a few banged up guys — especially a star player like Blake Corum — it sounds like everything will work itself out come summer and fall. Still, these are Michigan football injury updates for all fans and writers to keep an eye on throughout the remainder of Michigan’s 2023 offseason.
