The Big Ten Conference is still deciding what to do with the Michigan football program in regard to punishment due to the alleged sign-stealing scandal. While Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines are already en route to State College, PA, for tomorrow’s game against Penn State, there has been no word from conference commissioner Tony Petitti, who was reportedly going to take action early this afternoon. Here is the latest.

Will the Big Ten punish Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football today?

Will the Big Ten Conference finally break its silence on what punishment is coming for Michigan football amid the sign-stealing scandal? Well, so far, it hasn’t, despite reports that indicated that this week was going to be full of punishment for the Wolverines.

First, it was reported that punishment was coming on Wednesday; then, the date was changed to Thursday. Finally, Friday was the day that everyone was sure something would happen, and the Big Ten would lay the hammer down on Michigan football.

Yet, despite reports that the conference would act earlier this afternoon, nothing has been said or done. In fact, the Big Ten has waited so long that Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan football team are in the air en route to Penn State for tomorrow’s top-10 matchup at Beaver Stadium.

Just now, Heather Dinich of ESPN — a college football insider — gave an updated timeline. Per Dinich, the process is taking longer than expected, but word from the Big Ten is still expected today (Friday).

“UPDATE — Big Ten decision is still expected today, but it’s taking longer than expected because of the legality involved in the process and documents,” her tweet reads.
