If you root for the Wolverines or follow national recruiting, you are now well-acquainted with the name Jadyn Davis. The five-star quarterback is the prized gem of the 2024 Michigan Wolverines football recruiting class and is a product of Providence Day High School in North Carolina. Speaking of Providence Day, a high school teammate of Davis’s happens to be the No. 1 player in the nation (per 247 Sports) in the 2025 recruiting class and needs to be at the top of Michigan’s priority list heading into the next cycle.
Michigan Wolverines football recruiting needs to target David Sanders
According to the 247 Sports player rankings, David Sanders — a teammate of Jadyn Davis — is a five-star offensive lineman in the next recruiting class. Sanders is ranked as the No. 1 offensive tackle, the No. 1 player in North Carolina, and the No. 1 player in the entire country for the 2025 recruiting class. He needs to be one of the top targets for the Michigan Wolverines football recruiting efforts.
David Sanders is a target that the Michigan football team was high on early but is yet to get him on a visit to Ann Arbor. Being a teammate of Jadyn Davis, you have to think that Sanders has a bit of interest in the Wolverines, and according to the young man himself, he does want to see the Michigan football facilities and campus soon.
“I want to go up there on a visit soon just to see the campus, meet all the coaches and things like that,” Sanders told The Wolverine. “Michigan will definitely get a visit once I set everything up for the spring. I’m excited to check them out … They’ve expressed their interest in me and how much they like watching me play. They just want to get me up there for a visit. I’m excited to build more of a relationship with the offensive line coach. They had the best offensive line two years in a row, which is a big deal for me because that’s the position I play.”
Some good news for the Wolverines
There is a lot of good news for the Michigan football team regarding recruiting David Sanders. First, he has some solid interest in the program; this is never bad for a recruiting class that is still over a year away from singing. Secondly, Jadyn Davis — his current high school quarterback — is already locked into playing for Jim Harbaugh and could have some pull over where Sanders winds up as well.
Most importantly, Davis Sanders’ current offensive line coach at Providence Day High School is Jonathan Goodwin, who played for the Michigan football team under Lloyd Carr in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He is also a Super Bowl Champion.
Right now, David Sanders is entering his junior year of high school, so it is too early to tell where he will commit; however, with Maize and Blue all around him, you have to think that Michigan football has a pretty good shot at the No. 1 player in the 2025 class.
