Michigan Football: Sherrone Moore Was The Perfect Promotion

Heading into 2022, the Michigan Wolverines decided to roll with a co-offensive coordinator system. Michigan’s Matt Weiss and Sherrone Moore were the designated play-callers, though Moore was to serve as the Wolverines’ primary play-caller. In January, the university announced that it had fired former co-OC Matt Weiss amid an investigation into computer access crimes which allegedly occurred in December of 2022. This week, the Michigan football team announced that it has made a decision for its full-time play caller in 2023.

Earlier this week, the University of Michigan football program announced that it had promoted former co-offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore to its full-time play caller ahead of the 2023 season. This is massive news for the program, and a well-earned accomplishment for Moore himself. As we turn the page from 2022 to 2023, Sherrone Moore was the perfect choice at OC.

Sherrone Moore deserved to be full-time play-caller

After an incredible season in 2022, the Michigan Wolverines didn’t have many other options at offensive coordinator. A season ago, Moore led the Michigan football offense to one of its best seasons during the Jim Harbaugh era — the Michigan offense finished top-6 in total offense and scoring offense in 2022. Additionally, Moore was a pivotal part of the culture change at Michigan football — without Sherrone Moore, who knows if the Wolverines ever get back on track to where they are now?

Moore earned his role with the Wolverines and is one of the best offensive play-callers that the Wolverines could have picked up — the decision was likely a no-brainer for Jim Harbaugh heading into a season full of huge expectations for his Wolverines.

This fall, Sherrone Moore will have the best Michigan football offense that we have ever seen on paper. The Wolverines have experience and talent all over, not to mention some incredible depth and insane transfer additions. In 2023, Michigan football should have the best offense in the Big Ten — an elite offensive line, solid pass-catchers, veteran five-star quarterback, and the nation’s best running back duo could lead the Michigan Wolverines to their first National Title in over 2.5 decades.

Per usual, Moore will be play a massive role in Michigan’s success, and he is the perfect man for the job.
