INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — Yesterday, at Big Ten Media Day, Michigan football star running back Blake Corum chimed in on the talks of Jim Harbaugh being suspended for four of Michigan’s games this fall. While the NCAA intends to punish Harbaugh and the Wolverines, Corum thinks that this situation may have the opposite effect for the Maize and Blue.

Blake Corum says Michigan football will have even more motivation if Jim Harbaugh is suspended

Michigan football appears to be a self-driving car right now — according to Jim Harbaugh, his team needs little motivation and tends to just show up and work. A lot of this incredible mentality is led by long-time star rusher Blake Corum, who is heading into his senior season with the Wolverines.

According to Blake Corum, who had plenty to say during Big Ten Media Day yesterday, the suspension of Jim Harbaugh would only further motivate his Wolverines to go out there and “do this for Coach Harbaugh.”

“I don’t know too much about the situation (with the NCAA), but as a leader, just rallying my guys,” Blake Corum said during yesterday’s Big Ten Media Day interview. “If anything, it’s going to make us go even harder.

“Maybe a little motivation — light a fire under us. I’m going to rally my troops, get them going, and we’re going to do this for coach (Jim) Harbaugh if that is the case. But I don’t really know what’s going on too much. Really just bring my guys together and do what we do, (which is) play ball, leave it all on the field and get the job done.”

Right now, nothing has been made official by the NCAA or the Michigan football program, though it appears that head coach Jim Harbaugh will miss the first four games of the coming season: ECU, UNLV, Bowling Green, and Rutgers. Regardless, Michigan will likely begin the season with a strong 4-0 record before heading to Lincoln, NE, for a tough Week 5 road matchup.
