With JJ McCarthy heading to the NFL Draft, the next Michigan football quarterback has some big shoes to fill. So far, it appears that a leading candidate to replace McCarthy at the helm is rising junior standout Alex Orji — a freak athlete for the Maize and Blue — who recently inked himself a new NIL deal after the Wolverines’ 2024 National Championship Game victory against Washington.

New NIL deal for Michigan football quarterback Alex Orji

We’re yet to see Alex Orji air it out in a game, though reports from inside Schembechler Hall imply that the rising junior quarterback is quite capable of doing so. After Michigan football won the national title in Houston, TX, downing Washington 34-13, a new NIL deal was announced for Orji.

Per an announcement from Leaf Trading Cards, exclusive autographed Alex Orji cards are available until January 17th (today) on their website. The cards, which featured photos of Orji as well as Michigan’s “BET” slogan, cost under $20.00 (USD) per card.

Alex Orji is known as an athletic freak around Ann Arbor and could be the next Michigan football quarterback heading into next season (depending on how things play out from here). Regardless, seeing younger Wolverines ink new NIL deals is a solid sign for the program, especially in today’s day and age of college football.
