One reason that Tennessee didn’t want to lose assistant coach Brian Jean-Mary to Michigan football is what he brings on the recruiting trail. He’s an asset and Jean-Mary did well on the trail for the Wolverines too in his short tenure, and there shouldn’t be much dropoff from Chris Partridge.
Partridge landed on his feet, which was good to see. It was also good to see the Wolverines steal Jean-Mary away from the Volunteers and the new linebackers coach is already active on the recruiting trail for Michigan football.
New Michigan football LB coach making offers
On Wednesday, just one day after Jean-Mary was officially announced as Michigan football linebackers coach, he offered Ty Jackson, a four-star linebacker from Seminole Ridge, Florida. Jackson is 6-foot, 200 pounds, and ranks 68th overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, as well as ninth among linebackers.
Jean-Mary offered a second linebacker on Wednesday, Luke Metz. He’s 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, and has a crystal ball projection to Ole Miss. He will also visit LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Metz is out of Georgia and despite his three-star ranking, he’s got a blue-chip offer sheet.
Getting those targets on campus for a visit would be huge, especially Jackson, but it’s good to see Jean-Mary being active for Michigan football recruiting.
2026 QB to visit Michigan
The Wolverines are also getting a 2026 quarterback on campus for the second time. Noah Grubbs who is 6-foot-4, 205 pounds, visited previously but this will be a two-day trip. Grubbs will also visit Notre Dame, Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, and Miami. He was offered by the Wolverines back in August and was on campus for the Michigan football win over Ohio State. Grubbs is unranked right now according to the 247 Sports composite rankings but his offer sheet reflects his status as a highly-touted prospect.
