The Michigan Wolverines are getting hot on the 2024 recruiting trail, currently boasting the No. 1-ranked class nationally with 14 hard commits, ten 4-stars, and one 5-star. This week, more great Michigan football recruiting news came Jim Harbaugh’s way as the Wolverines have now locked in a huge official visit for this summer; 5-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo has confirmed an official visit to Ann Arbor. Now, the Michigan football program will look to build on its current success and more.

Michigan football recruiting locks in major official visit for this summer

Ryan Wingo, a highly-touted 5-star wide receiver in the class of 2024, has confirmed that he will be visiting the Michigan Wolverines on June 9th for an official visit. The Michigan football recruiting efforts have been successful in the 2024 and 2025 classes, and securing Wingo’s commitment could be a pivotal moment for the Wolverines in the 2024 class.

Currently, Michigan football recruiting boasts the top-ranked class in the country, ahead of other powerhouses like Ohio State (2), Georgia (3), LSU (4), and Penn State (5). However, if the Wolverines want to maintain their position at the top (or even in the top-3), they will need to continue pushing forward throughout the summer. The upcoming official visit of Ryan Wingo presents a significant opportunity for Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff to potentially land a major 5-star wide receiver.

Wingo is an impressive prospect with a towering 6-foot-2, 215-pound frame heading into his senior year of high school. He is a 5-star wideout according to the On3 Industry Rankings, ranking as the No. 21 player in the nation, the No. 5 wide receiver in his class, and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Maryland. Additionally, Wingo is a 5-star wide receiver on 247 Sports Composite rankings, where he is listed as the No. 6 recruit in the nation, the No. 2 receiver, and the No. 2 player in the state of Maryland. Rivals also considers Wingo a 5-star receiver, ranking him among the top-20 nationally.

Michigan football recruiting class is impressive, though needs a wideout

The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class has secured 14 impressive commitments, including their crown jewel, 5-star quarterback Jayn Davis from North Carolina. While the Wolverines’ offensive line and defense are shaping up nicely, they need to acquire talented pass-catchers to support Davis, making Ryan Wingo a top priority.
