The Wolverines’ coaching staff is starting to shift towards the 2025 cycle, with the 2024 recruiting class nearing its end. While targets like Bryce Underwood still remain at the top of Jim Harbaugh’s 2025 wish list, there are a few other major Michigan football recruiting targets that U-M is trending for right now — one of which being four-star cornerback Jahmari DeLoatch out of Oscar Smith High School in Virginia.

Michigan football recruiting closing in on major target

Michigan football recruiting has been on a roll as of late. The Wolverines seem close to landing some major transfer portal targets, flipping some top-ranked high school recruits (such as Gatlin Bair), and even just poached a target from the USC Trojans earlier this month (Deyvid Palepale).

Now, it appears that Michigan football is approaching another blue-chip commitment in the 2025 recruiting class: Jahmari DeLoatch.

DeLoatch is a 247 Sports four-star cornerback out of Virginia, who ranks as the No. 210 player nationally, the No. 26 cornerback in his class, and the No. 8 recruit in the state of Virginia.

Insiders project the Wolverines to land four-star cornerback Jahmari DeLoatch (2025 recruiting class)

Per a new crystal ball, which was placed on Sunday afternoon, Michigan football is the clear favorite to land Jahmari DeLoatch. He currently has two crystal balls in favor of the Wolverines, as well as a 99.3% chance of picking Michigan, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The 2025 Michigan football recruiting class currently has three commits — one four-star and two three-stars — and ranks No. 13 in the composite rankings. If Jahmari DeLoatch were to commit right now, he would be the Wolverines’ second four-star prospect and second cornerback in the class.

Only time will tell, but things are looking up for the Maize and Blue in his recruitment.
