This afternoon, the No. 2 Wolverines have a shot at winning a third-straight Big Ten title game, taking on the No. 16 Iowa Hawkeyes at Lucas Oil Stadium. Last weekend, the Maize and Blue punched their ticket to the conference championship game with a win over Ohio State — a game that clearly left a massive impression on elite Michigan football recruiting target Gatlin Bair (2024 recruiting class), a wide receiver out of Idaho. Since de-committing from Boise State on Friday night, it appears that Michigan and Oregon were both top contenders; now, Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines appear to be the favorites.
Michigan football recruiting closing in on elite 2024 recruiting class target
Jim Harbaugh missed on Gatlin Bair once this year, back when the elite 2024 wide receiver decided to commit to Boise State in August. After making it out to the Michigan football-Ohio State matchup last weekend at the Big House in Ann Arbor, MI, Bair appears to be leaning towards flipping his commitment to Michigan, even de-committing from Boise State last night.
In Bair’s Friday evening announcement, he said that he will be focusing his recruitment on two schools: Oregon and Michigan. With the 12-0 Wolverines about to take the field against Iowa in the Big Ten title game, Jim Harbaugh and the team’s coaching staff got some major news on the recruiting front: two crystal balls for Bair’s commitment from a pair of the top recruiting insiders in college football.
Gatlin Bair projected to commit to Jim Harbaugh following Boise State de-commitment
Steve Wiltfong and Brandon Huffman of 247 Sports now expect Gatlin Bair to pick Michigan football, further strengthening the Wolverines’ program outlook as Michigan looks to remain among the nation’s top CFP title contenders.
Gatlin Bair is taking a two-year mission after graduation, meaning that he is more of a 2026 recruit than a 2024 recruit. Still, he is known as the fastest player in the country right now and is a major target for the Maize and Blue. Per 247 Sports’ rankings, Bair is an elite four-star wide receiver target who ranks as the No. 35 player in the country, the No. 9 wide receiver in the 2024 class, and the No. 1 player in the state of Idaho.
