When Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines get hot on the recruiting trail, they tend to stay that way for quite some time. This is evident right now as Michigan football recruiting is trending for the No. 1 2025 running back in the nation — he released his top 10 earlier today, and the Wolverines made the cut alongside some elite competition.

Earlier today, Gideon Davidson — one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation — released the top 10 finalists in his recruitment. Among the ten remaining schools are the Michigan Wolverines, the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and many more. Despite all of these top tier programs gunning for his commitment, the Wolverines appeared to stand out out to Gideon Davidson quite a bit.

“This team is coming away from two great back to back seasons,” Davidson told On3 following his announcement. “And their running backs have excelled in their offensive system. Coach Harbaugh is somebody that I believe I’d like to play under and be invested into as a man of God.”

Ratings and rankings for Davidson

According to the 247 Sports rankings, Gideon Davidson is a four-star recruit and one of the most sought-after players in the 2025 recruiting class. Davidson is ranked as the No. 19 player nationally, the No. 1 2025 running back, and the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia. He has no crystal balls yet, though 247 believes that Michigan, Ohio State, and a few others are currently warm in his recruitment.
