The Michigan football recruiting efforts for the 2024 class have been impressive thus far, with the coaching staff working diligently to secure talented prospects. Despite a relatively quieter month for college football news, including recruiting updates, the Wolverines continue to generate buzz throughout May. Currently, Michigan appears to be on track to secure a significant commitment from a highly sought-after four-star defender in the 2024 class.

The team has set its sights on closing the deal during the prospect’s upcoming official visit next month, further bolstering their recruiting success.

Right now, Michigan football holds the nation’s No. 1 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Still, this elite status has not slowed Michigan down one bit on the recruiting trail; in fact, it appears that the Wolverines are using it as even more motivation to defend their top ranking.

Late next month, Devon Baxter will take an official visit to Ann Arbor. This could be massive for the Wolverines, who will undoubtedly be looking to close with this major four-star defender and add yet another key piece to the 2024 class.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan football is currently leading the race to secure Baxter’s commitment, with a 53.8% chance of ultimately landing him. This positive prediction is a promising sign ahead of his upcoming official visit, indicating that the Wolverines are making significant progress in their pursuit of adding Baxter as the 18th committed player to their class.

Devon Baxter is a highly regarded four-star defensive end in the 2024 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 373 recruit nationally, the No. 26 EDGE player, and the No. 12 recruit in the state of Maryland.

Hailing from Gwynn Park High School, Baxter’s impressive physical attributes, standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 235 pounds, have captured the attention of scouts nationwide, generating considerable excitement around the possibility of securing his commitment.
