Michigan had a major day yesterday, with nine former standouts drafted to the NFL. Now, the Michigan football recruiting efforts are gaining momentum once more, as Jim Harbaugh & his team are in the running for an elite four-star defender in the 2024 recruiting class. Dejaun Lane revealed his top five school choices on Saturday night, with Michigan making the final cut.

Michigan football recruiting makes final cut for elite four-star defender

Yesterday, Dejaun Lane, an elite four-star defender from Gilman High School in Baltimore, MD, announced his final five programs, with Michigan football making the cut. This is a significant development for the Wolverines, who currently have 15 hard commits, ranking them No. 1 nationally.

According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, Lane is a four-star linebacker in the 2024 recruiting class. He is ranked No. 215 nationally, No. 18 in his class as a safety, and No. 4 in Maryland. On3 also rates Lane as a four-star linebacker, ranking him No. 270 nationally, No. 32 among linebackers, and No. 7 in Maryland. Additionally, Rivals gives Lane similar ratings, placing him as a top 240 recruit in the nation.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, Lane is a highly sought-after recruit with offers from top programs, including Penn State, Notre Dame, Maryland, and national champions Georgia. His commitment to the Wolverines would be a significant boost for Jim Harbaugh’s recruiting class. With Lane naming Michigan as one of his final choices, his recruitment is definitely worth keeping an eye on as we head into the summer.
