The 2023 season is not too far out, making it the focus of everyone’s attention. That being said, some future Michigan football schedule changes were announced this morning, with notable teams like Texas being slated for future seasons and more. Here is today’s Michigan football schedule update.
Michigan football schedule update
This morning, the University of Michigan football athletic department announced that the 2026 non-conference schedule has been competed, and a game has been added to the 2029 schedule. Here are the changes that were announced.
2026 non-conference schedule
The Michigan football team will kick off its 2026 non-conference schedule against Western Michigan before hosting Oklahoma and UTEP. The Wolverines are traveling to Oklahoma in 2025, the OU game in 2026 will be the final game of the home-and-home series.
Texas to play at Michigan, more non-conference games added for other seasons
According to this morning’s Michigan football schedule updates, the Texas Longhorns are slated to make the trip to Ann Arbor, MI, for Week 2 of the 2024 schedule — in turn, the Wolverines will make the trip to Texas in 2027. On top of these changes, another small change was made — Western Michigan is the first team added to the Wolverines’ 2029 schedule. From 2025-2029, the Michigan Wolverines are slated to face in-state directional schools three times (Western Michigan twice, Central Michigan once).
Additionally, Michigan football will both host and travel to two SEC programs (Oklahoma and Texas) over the next four seasons, which should be an interesting change for Wolverines fans.
