The former standout defensive back and Michigan football transfer portal loss has now found a new home in the SEC with the Florida Gators.

During his time in Ann Arbor, former Michigan football defensive back RJ Moten was a solid contributor on some of the best defenses the program has ever seen, compiling some impressive numbers and accolades along the way.

RJ Moten, a four-star safety recruit in the class of 2020, was ranked as the No. 256 recruit nationally, the No. 26 safety in the class, and the No. 7 recruit in the state of New Jersey, according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings. He committed to the Michigan football program in mid-2019, alongside AJ Henning, and has played with the team for three years.

During his time with the Wolverines, Moten played in 29 career games, starting 15, and participating in all 14 games of the 2022 season. He was also recognized as a two-time Academic All-Big Ten standout and was a significant contributor to Michigan’s back-to-back Big Ten championship defenses in 2021 and 2022. Despite his achievements, the New Jersey native has decided to transfer to another notable program: the SEC’s own Florida Gators, who need quite a bit of defensive help right now.

The decision was made official on Tuesday afternoon.
