This offseason, the new Michigan football transfer portal linebacker, Ernest Hausmann, signed with the Maize and Blue following one season with Nebraska.

In just a few short months, he will run out and touch the banner for the first time as a Wolverine when the Maize and Blue kick off their 2023 season on September 2nd. The Wolverines have a talented defense, and Hausmann is going to need to compete hard for reps this fall. However, he is not afraid of the competition one bit.

For some, more competition is seen as a negative factor; however, for the new Michigan football transfer portal linebacker Ernest Hausmann, it is the reason he chose to come to Ann Arbor. Already, according to spring ball reports and more, the sophomore linebacker is standing out with the Wolverines.

One of the most remarkable traits about Hausmann is his willingness to compete. If Michigan football is to win a national title this fall, it will be because of competitors like Hausmann, JJ McCarthy, and even Jim Harbaugh.

“I love competition,” Hausmann said during a spring interview. “I’ll never back down from any challenge that comes my way. I go about my business. I have a lot of pride in my day-to-day routine, and I truly believe that if I continue through my routine, my habits, I’ll put myself in the best position to be in the mix for playing time on the field.”

Is Ernest Hausmann ready to break out in 2023?

According to Michigan football defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, who is heading into his second season as the DC for Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines, Ernest Hausmann has been more than impressive with the Maize and Blue so far. The Wolverines previously had concerns about depth, but with the addition of this standout Michigan football transfer portal linebacker, it appears that Minter’s defense is in good hands.

Ernest is a tremendous asset, tremendous pickup,” Minter said. “No. 1, he’s made plays in our stadium and in big moments, so we kind of know that that’s not going to be too big for him. I think he’s just physically, mentally a tremendous asset to that room. He’ll challenge those guys. We have two incumbent players that, my challenge to Ernest is to go take their spot.

“My challenge to those guys is to hold on to your spot,” Minter continued, “because he’s coming.”

Keep an eye on new this new Michigan football transfer portal linebacker, because he is shaping up to be a special player for the Maize and Blue in the years to come.
