Michigan football uniform ranked No. 2 in college football ahead of the 2023 season

The Michigan football uniform is iconic — from the winged helmet to the Maize and Blue tops and bottoms, the Wolverines have some of the most iconic sets in all of sports. Ahead of the 2023 college football season, Michigan’s uniforms have been ranked No. 2 in the game, trailing only the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Prior to the start of the 2023 college football season, 247 Sports ranked the top 30 uniforms in the sport. The tradition-rich Michigan football uniform secured the No. 2 spot nationally, coming in just behind Ohio State.

Moreover, Michigan football and Ohio State are not the only Big Ten teams to make it into the top 5. Despite their simpler appearance, the Penn State Nittany Lions ranked No. 5 nationally, once again demonstrating that the Big Ten East is the premier division in college football overall.

The Michigan football uniform is highlighted by its outstanding and easily recognizable helmet, which is considered the best in all of sports, regardless of level. The Maize and Blue winged helmet embodies the Wolverines’ illustrious history of success on the football field. Additionally, Michigan’s iconic blue tops and maize pants perfectly complement the Wolverines’ achievements over the years.

In recent years, Michigan football has been experimenting with its uniforms more than in years past. The Wolverines frequently wear all-blue uniforms and even introduced an all-maize combination in 2017. During recruiting visits, Michigan further diversifies its uniform options, featuring maize on blue, blue on white, and more, as evidenced by numerous social media posts from recruits.
