Today, it was reported that the University of Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh are once again under NCAA investigation; this time, in regards to alleged sign stealing. For the Wolverines, these accusations state that they sent personnel to future opponents’ games in hopes of picking up on their signs, which is prohibited by the league. Today, The Athletic reported that the Michigan football vs. Michigan State game — which is set for this Saturday evening — was in danger of being canceled due to these allegations.

Michigan football vs. Michigan State game could have been canceled

According to Brendan Quinn of The Athletic, the Michigan football vs. Michigan State game, which is just a few days out, could have been canceled after an NCAA investigation was launched pertaining to the Wolverines and sign stealing.

Per his report, Michigan State University was notified of the allegations and pending NCAA investigation into Michigan football for alleged sign stealing. Quinn states that the Spartans initially considered simply not playing this weekend’s game; however, he says that Michigan State eventually came around and confirmed that it will face the Wolverines on the gridiron this Saturday. This confirmation came earlier this morning.

Michigan State’s initial reaction — leading the school to consider canceling the game — was due to safety and health concerns regarding the well-being of its players, per Quinn’s report.
