Michigan football has been working to flip four-star South Carolina commitment Shamari Earls and has finally taken a key step: The Wolverines are getting him on campus for a visit.

It’s going to be an unofficial visit according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine. But Earls, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback from Chester, Virginia, will visit Michigan football on June 13th.

Earls committed to the Gamecocks back in April. Duke and Virginia were set to get official visits. He also took a trip to Alabama in the spring. But Michigan football has been making a push. Lamar Morgan has proven to be a strong recruiter, at least with dudes in the transfer portal.

Can Michigan football flip Shamari Earls?

Now, Morgan is putting his talents to use for high school recruiting and Earls would be a perfect fit for the Wolverines. He’s long and is a playmaker. He had 10 pass breakups over the past two seasons in high school to go along with five interceptions.

As it stands, the Wolverines don’t have any defensive backs committed in the 2025 class. The coaching turnover certainly doesn’t help but Michigan football is building up its board. Some things have shifted in recent weeks as Dawayne Galloway was projected to the Wolverines with a crystal ball. Now, Purdue feels like the favorite.

It seems like Michigan has cooled a little bit. They haven’t cooled on Earls. The visit is important but if Michgan football is serious about flipping the four-star recruit ranked 103rd overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, it will need to get him back for an official visit.

The first visit is a good place to start though.
