As many already know, the 2024 Michigan football recruiting class has been coming together nicely thus far. The Wolverines already have six commits — five of which are four-star prospects — and are in the mix for several other big-name recruits, such as five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis.

This spring, the Wolverines will try to reel in one of the top names on their 2024 big board: Xadavien Sims, the top-ranked prospect in Oklahoma.

Sims to visit Michigan football this spring

Sims will be in Ann Arbor with Jim Harbaugh and his staff this spring on an official visit to Michigan football. Sims would be a massive addition to the Wolverines’ incredible 2024 class, which already ranks top 10 and is trending toward significant improvements by the day.

Sims is the No. 66 player in the nation, the No. 9 defensive lineman, and the No. 1 player in Oklahoma, according to 247 Sports. The Wolverines have been recruiting Sims heavily to this point, though he appears to be focused elsewhere.

So far, Sims has four crystal ball predictions on 247 — all four are for the Michigan State Spartans, though the most recent prediction was placed in mid-November of 2022.

Wolverines looking to kill Michigan State’s momentum?

Thus far, Mel Tucker and Michigan State appear to be in the lead for Sims, though don’t count out Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines just yet. With Sims visiting Ann Arbor over the spring, Michigan football could swiftly jump into the race for Sims at a crucial point in his recruitment.

After the past two seasons — especially after the most recent season — the on-field results heavily favor Michigan football. The Wolverines may not have the NIL support that Michigan State does, though U-M has better NFL results and is trending in a better direction as a program after winning its second-straight Big Ten title a season ago.

Sims’ visit will be essential if Harbaugh and the Wolverines expect to climb back into the race for the top-ranked player in Oklahoma.
