texas beats michigan football and vaults their ap poll ranking
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore walks off the field after the 31-12 loss to Texas at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024.

Following their first home loss since 2020, Michigan football suffered an expected drop in the Week 3 AP Poll

After their winning streak was snapped by Texas in a 31-12 loss, the Wolverines fell seven spots in the rankings from 10 to 17.

Meanwhile, the victory helped the Longhorns catapult Ohio State in the new poll. They moved up one spot to No. 2, trailing only Georgia.

Other Notable Movement in the New AP Poll

Michigan was not the biggest faller in the polls, as Notre Dame suffered a shocking 16-14 home loss to Northern Illinois. The loss dropped the program from No. 5 to 18 in the AP Top 25.
