Michigan men’s basketball (9-3, 2-0 Big Ten) avoided a three-game skid with a 89-58 win against Purdue Fort Wayne (9-5) on Sunday. The Wolverines were out to a 54-29 lead at halftime by shooting 21-of-27 from the field (78%) and 9-of-12 (75%) from three. Prior to Sunday, it had been over three weeks since Michigan’s last win (Dec. 7).
Michigan heading into Christmas break on a high note
1o different Wolverines scored on Sunday, and they posted a season-high in rebounds with 48. Michigan forward Danny Wolf led all players with 13 boards and five assists, and he has at least 10 rebounds in five of the last seven games. Point guard Tre Donaldson recorded a team-high 16 points.
The Wolverines ended the game shooting 63 percent from the field, and it was their highest mark since the season opener (68%). Freshman guard Justin Pippen set career highs in minutes (19), points (10), rebounds (4) and assists (2).
Michigan committed 18 turnovers, which is tied for the second most in one game this season. Purdue Fort Wayne guard Jalen Jackson led all scorers with 27 points.
After a week off, the Wolverines have a home matchup with Western Kentucky on Dec. 29.
