Michigan Men’s Gymnastics claims fifth consecutive Big Ten title

Michigan Athletics continue to dominate, firing on all cylinders across the Big Ten. The men’s gymnastics team got it done this season, winning the Big Ten regular season team title this past weekend. This is the fifth season in a row that the men’s gymnastics squad has brought home the hardware, a truly incredible feat.

Led by men’s olympic medalists Paul Juda and Fred Richard, the men’s gymnastics squad is certainly heading into the NCAA championship on a high.

Michigan Claims Both Gold and Silver in Big Ten Men’s All-Around

Junior Fred Richard earned the all-around champion title for the third time in his career, the first time a Michigan gymnast has won three consecutive all-around titles since 1971. The all-around competition was tight throughout, however, with fellow Wolverine Paul Juda leading for most of the meet. Richard pulled ahead in the high bars, clinching his third all-around gold medal in three years, and Juda claiming the silver.

Head Coach Yuan Xiao earned the Big Ten Coach of the Year award for his fourth season in a row, closing out the regular season with a slew of accolades. This was certainly a season to be proud of for the entire Wolverines men’s gymnastics squad, and with the NCAA championship taking place at the Crisler Center, hopes of even more accolades to come are pretty high.
